The New Dover High School was designed to accommodate an initial capacity of 1,800 students. The floor plan is organized into learning academies, each housing general instruction classrooms along with support and administrative areas such as teacher workrooms, conference areas and locker commons. The architectural massing of this three-story school, located on 106 acres of re-purposed farm land, acknowledges the sun’s motion, prevailing winds and natural vistas. The building is positioned to maximize natural daylight opportunities, enhance storm water management capacity and provide ample space for geo-thermal well fields. The core facilities, HVAC, power and technology systems have been constructed to accommodate likely future expansion. This project was completed in association with Hord Coplan Macht.
